Plot

Playing Inspirado is now available to support individuals, friends and families who may consider having recovery conversations with playing the recovery board game online.

​

Getting distracted during online meetings is not uncommon, especially in the comfort of home environment in addition to either waiting too long to contribute or not having anything to say.

​

Hosting an online meeting with a planned virtual activity (such as recovery-focused online board games and or card games) as the vehicle for the agenda for the meeting may help with members of the group focus while enriching their sense of connectedness through participation.

Platforms and Devices

The online version of the board game is hosted on Tabletopia. 

 

Tabletopia is a digital sandbox system for playing board games with no artificial intelligence (AI) to enforce the rules. This means players have a virtual experience similar to playing a board game in real life. Players have the ability to roll the dice, pick and flip cards, while picking up and moving their pawns round the board.

 

The online version of the board game can be played on PCs, laptops and mobile devices. Interested players can play with each other remotely with each other in the comfort of their homes.

 

NB: Cross platform play, such as PCs and mobile devices, is currently not supported. This means players must all play from an agreed platform, such as computers (including laptops) or mobile devices (smart phones, tablets, etc), but not both.

Setups

Currently available online are three (3) out of the five (5) different ways of playing Inspirado recovery board game.

Choose the 'Talking Cards' setup if you wish to play the 'Talking Cards' and 'The Board Game' setup if you wish to play either 'Sound Off' or 'Thoughts and Feelings'.

Setting up a virtual playdate

Interested individuals can host or facilitate their own playdate.

They will need;

  • Access to the internet.

  • A form of communication. This could either either be audio or video which could either be via mobile or phone networks, Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, Facetime etc. 

  • A computer (including laptops) or mobile device. 

    • NB: Players with mobile devices will need to first download the  FREE Tabletopia app from either Google Play or the IOS App Store.

  • Two (2) to eight (8) players. 

    • NB: This game does not support solo play.

  • Appoint a person as host or facilitator.

    • Hosts/ Facilitators with either computer or mobile access will need to first register to be able to invite the remaining players.​

    • Computer/ Laptop access: After registration on Tabletopia,

      • Click on 'Play Online'. 

      • Hosts/ facilitators are automatically given a virtual seat at the table. NB: Search for 'Inspirado Hubs' in the search box of the Tabletopia website should you find yourself in another game after registration.

  • Mobile access: After registration, hosts/ facilitators access the game by;

    • Dropping down the main menu of the Tabletopia app

    • Select 'Shared' then

    • Select 'Access Game'

    • Key in the access code for the setup you wish to play as seen below;

      •  Talking Cards : FF68QC​

      • The Board Game: RKI3J9

    • Download the Game

    • Select the setup

    • Choose the number of players

    • Choose 'Create Online Table'

    • Hosts/ facilitators are automatically given a virtual seat at the table.

  • Computer/laptop platform invitations from host.

    • Hosts can invite up to 7 additional players

    • Invited players can be play as guests without registering online.

    • Hosts can share the unique web link to the table with the other players. This can be found just below the seat management area in the virtual lobby.

    • Invitees' response is to click the link sent to join the table

    • Host then click the start game once everyone has checked in.

  • Mobile platform invitations from host.

    • Hosts can invite up to 7 additional players

    • Invited players can be play as guests without registering online.

    • Unique table codes will be automatically copied on your clip board when host choose 'Create Online Table'.

    • This can be shared to your the remaining players. 

    • Hosts can populate the seating area to accommodate the number of players. NB: Maximum number of players is eight (8).

    • Invitees' response is to first download the Tabletopia app, then choose 'Online Table' in the main menu, choose to register or play as guests and then key in the unique table code.
